INTERNATIONAL AQUATIC PLANTS LAYOUT CONTEST 2010

Thank you for joining the 10th International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest.
Aqua Design Amano Co., Ltd. hosted the International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2010, and have received total of 1819 applications from 55 countries and areas for this year's contest. After closing the application on May 31, 2010, all the applications went through impartial grading process by judges, and the contest result is now finalized. Based on the grading of the judges, each entry was ranked.
All applicants' pictures will be compiled as a booklet "The International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2010". This booklet will be on sale for the planted aquarium hobbyist around the world.
Finally, Aqua Design Amano Co., Ltd. will organize the 11th International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest next year. We hope you will join the next year's contest, again.

International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest started from the dawn of 21st century, and this year's contest marks the 10th anniversary. In our 10 year contest history, the number of participants and participating country has been increasing steadily, and we have received record breaking participants in this year's contest. This reflects the fact that the number of planted aquarium hobbyists is globally increasing. But I feel very sorry to have seen the decline of layout originality in many applications, while many applicants are now having high layout technique. So some layouts with splendid layout idea were selected on the top prizes this year. It is also regrettable not many applications have a good combination of fish and aquarium layout. It is also very important point to decide the quality of aquarium layout. I wish to see many applications wowing our juries in next year's contest, and I hope this contest will develop further as a stage showing your aquarium layout to the world.

INTERNATIONAL AQUATIC PLANTS LAYOUT CONTEST 2009

Aqua Design Amano Co., Ltd. hosted the International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2009, and received 1,342 applications from 51 countries. In 2009 contest, we have seen a significant participant increase in Asian countries like China, Vietnam, and India. The increase in such countries reflects emerging popularity in planted aquarium hobby, and grand prize winner, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung from Vietnam symbolized this year’s contest trend.

I would like to thank all the applicants of International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2009. I also extend my gratitude to all the people contributed for promoting this international event, contest result announcement, and grading process. Each year we see increase in number of applicants and participating countries, and this is a proof many people in the world share a same hobby of planted aquarium. I am very delighted to this. Top prize winning layouts were occupied by the ones following basic layout style without being too eccentric. As number of applicant increases, we see more variations in styles, and many people pay attention to the new layout styles. But I believe many people thing about the basic point of planted aquarium layout again as orthodox style layouts were highly evaluated in this year’s contest. Next year marks the 10th contest milestone, and we continue to make our best efforts in pumping up this international event. We look forward to seeing many aquarists’ passionate layouts again in next year’s contest.
